Installing umbraco is fairly straightforward process of putting files on server and making sure permissions and database connection info is correct. Updating sites or extending the basic installation requires some knowledge, though.
Umbraco version 4 is now in Release Candidate status, with the developers saying, "recommended for production!"
Each of the primary browser engines, Chrome/Safari, Firefox/Mozilla, and Internet Explorer have features useful to umbraco
Umbraco makes it easy to work with multiple sites or sub-domains--as long as it has been installed in the root directory.
I use MS-SQL Express locally and MS-SQL 2005 (I think) in production.
